The user begins by specifying the location using natural language input.
Example: “Gulf of Riga”
VAS interprets the input and displays the region on an interactive map. The user is guided to draw a polygon to define the exact area of interest.
VAS prompts the user to choose a data source.
Example: “Copernicus Sentinel-2”
The assistant explains the catalogue and its capabilities, including spatial and temporal coverage.
The user enters the desired time interval for image acquisition.
Example: “from 01.03.2023 0:00 to 31.03.2023 23:59”
VAS confirms the date and prepares to query the catalogue.
The system returns matching satellite images.
Each result includes:
Thumbnail preview, Acquisition date, Metadata (e.g., cloud coverage, product ID)
The user is offered the option to request full-resolution products.
VAS constructs a STAC API query using the selected region, date, and catalogue.
The query is sent to the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem.
